Overview
The Investments tab tracks holdings outside your spending boxes. Create an investment group with manual holdings or a linked bank. Totals only count holdings you chose to show.
Manual groups
- Create investment group → Manual.
- Name the group (and set Owner on shared budgets).
- Add holdings: name, currency, balance; optionally quantity, unit value, ticker/code.
Update values over time with Update value. Manual holdings are not bank-synced; optional manual investment reminders can nudge you when values look stale (Settings → Notifications).
Limits: up to 30 manual groups per budget; up to 1000 holdings per manual group.
CSV import
On a manual investment group, open Import CSV. Keep the header row, then choose Add (merge) or Replace. Sample file: Manual holdings sample CSV. You can also clear holdings.
Up to 1000 holdings per group.
| Column | Notes |
|---|---|
| name | Holding name (required). Cap: 100 characters. |
| currency | ISO code (required). |
| balance | Current value (required). Cap: up to 1,000,000. |
| quantity | Units held (optional). |
| unitValue | Price per unit (optional). |
| code | Ticker or symbol (optional). Cap: 100 characters. |
| isin | ISIN (optional). Cap: 100 characters. |
Add merges rows; duplicate holdings are skipped by ISIN, code, or name. Replace swaps the list.
For manual account transaction CSV, see Transactions.
Bank groups
- Connect a bank (sign-in + Bank Sync).
- Create group → Bank, or Attach bank on Investments.
- Choose which holdings to show. New positions from the bank stay hidden until you update the list in Edit holdings.
Only selected holdings appear in totals. Refresh: about every 6 hours automatically, or when you refresh in Connections. Pull-to-refresh on Investments updates the mirror when available.
Bank-attached groups are not capped the same way as manual groups at the budget level.
Multi-user
On shared budgets, insights can show groups by user—totals across people who linked bank holdings or own manual groups. Collaborators with Can edit may attach their own bank investments. See Shared budgets.
Reports and export
- Reports includes an Investments chart over daily snapshots—see Reports.
- Download Investments JSON for your own tools—see Export — Investments. Liquify does not import that file back.
