Accounts

Link an account to a box

Manual, manual credit, bank, or crypto—and the payment account credit cards need.

Overview

Linking connects a box to where the money actually sits so Accounts can compare plan vs balance. From the Accounts tab, use Link account (editors only). You pick a box and a link type.

A budget can have up to 30 linked accounts.

TypeWhat you set
Manual accountEnter the balance yourself (cash or checking-style)
Manual credit cardEnter the card debt and the payment account you pay it from
Bank accountAuto-update from a connected bank (sign-in + Bank Sync)
Crypto accountLink a stablecoin crypto account from Tracked addresses

Bank and crypto balances refresh with sync. Manual balances you update yourself—stale reminders are optional under Notifications.

Credit cards and payment account

Credit-linked boxes need a payment account—the checking (or similar) balance that pays the statement.

  • Manual credit: fill debt on the card section and the payment account section.
  • Bank credit: after you pick the credit account, choose a Payment account for the same box.

On the plan, credit boxes assume the payment account covers the full statement on the statement closing day you set in Edit Expense Box. See Credit cards.

After linking

  • The box appears under Linked Accounts on Accounts.
  • Account vs plan compares balance to Needed, Planned, or Goal depending on how the box is set up—see Accounts.
  • You can set account alerts on the link (threshold, insufficient for plan, credit vs payment).
  • Unlinking can clear both the primary account and the payment account when both exist.
