Budget

Income, refill day, Remaining, and editing the plan when life changes.

Overview

A budget in Liquify is your named plan for the month: take-home income, a refill day, and the boxes that give every dollar a job. Open Edit Budget from the Plan experience to change income and refill day.

Income and Remaining

Set take-home Income in Edit Budget. On Plan, the summary shows Income, Expenses (what you allocated to boxes), and Remaining—aim for about zero so every dollar has a job. Details: Plan Remaining.

Refill day

Refill day is the day each month you add money to your boxes.

  • If income arrives more than once per month, pick the best day to fund boxes.
  • After all boxes are covered, anything extra in the month can be used for spending freely or saving.

On that day, fund each box’s plan—fixed monthly amount, expense-driven total, and/or progress toward a goal. See Boxes.

The Schedule cycle runs from refill day through the day before the next refill. Optional refill-day reminders (inbox + push) live under Settings → Notifications. Changing refill day also changes how far Expected in account looks ahead until the next refill.

When life changes

The plan is meant to be edited when income or costs change—not locked for the month.

  • Edit Budget for income and refill day.
  • Edit boxes and expenses on Plan when amounts, dates, or goals shift.
  • After edits, rebalance so Remaining is about zero again.
  • If you overspent a box this month, cover it from buffer or savings, then make the plan realistic—see Overspending. Bringing a new recurring bill into the plan is covered under Expenses.
  • Use Undo / Redo on Plan to experiment safely.

Liquify does not auto-move money between boxes or roll “box debt” into next month.
