Shared budgets, invitations, and blocked senders

Invite by email, Can edit vs View only, leave or remove, invitations inbox, and Decline & Block Sender.

Overview

Share a budget so others can follow (or help edit) the same plan. Open Share from the budget list. Shared budgets update automatically; changes show in Activity History. Collaboration notifications can be turned off under Settings → Notifications.

Only the budget owner can invite people, remove collaborators, or delete the budget.

Roles

RoleWhat they can do
Can editChange the plan, link their own banks to boxes, and attach bank investments to this budget
View onlyView the budget or leave it—they cannot edit

The owner can change a collaborator’s role later on Share. View-only people see a banner and cannot run edits (including Plan Analysis actions that need edit access).

Limits

Collaborator caps count pending and confirmed participants—the owner is not counted:

  • Free: 1 collaborator per budget
  • Pro or Ultra: up to 10

If a Free owner is over the collaborator quota, that budget can become view-only until they upgrade or remove people.

Invitations

  1. Owner opens Share and invites by email, choosing Can edit or View only.
  2. Invitee sees the invite under Pending invitations (budget list or from a notification).
  3. They Accept or Decline.

Decline options:

  • Just Decline — refuse this invite.
  • Decline & Block Sender — refuse and hide future invites from that person.

You cannot invite yourself. Someone already on the budget cannot be invited again. There is also a global cap on how many pending invites one person can have waiting.

Leave or remove

  • Owner removes anyone from Share.
  • Collaborator leaves by removing themselves on Share (including view-only).
  • Leaving is not the same as deleting the budget—only the owner can delete (see Deleted budgets).

Blocked senders

Under profile privacy settings, Blocked senders lists people whose invitations are automatically hidden. You can unblock later. The list holds up to 100 senders. Blocking applies to invitations, not to someone already collaborating—remove them on Share instead.
